Elena has more than 30 years of experience as a State Attorney (Abogado del Estado), Legal Counsel, Arbitrator, and Independent Board member, as well as Executive Director and ExCo member in the legal and public affairs fields at relevant companies in the education, construction/infrastructure and telecom sectors.

She stands out for her relevant and extensive know-how in which the legal, institutional and business worlds are fused and combined, which allows her to address and lead complex business problems with both legal rigor and a clear understanding of the economic and business reality.

Graduated in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid with an Cum Laude (Premio Extraordinario) in 1991, she joined the Corps of State Attorneys in 1993.

As a State Attorney she has worked in various roles, including representing the Government of Spain before the National Court and the Supreme Court of Spain (for 15 years) in highly relevant economic, fiscal and regulatory matters.

She has also acted as legal counsel and arbitrator in complex civil and commercial matters (for more than 15 years).

She has served as General Secretary of relevant companies, such as CEU (education), SACYR (construction and infrastructure) or VODAFONE Spain (telecommunications).

She currently serves as Chairwoman of CEA, Spanish Court of Arbitration - Corte Española de Arbitraje (www.ceaarbitraje.com), belonging to the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.

Member of the Steering Committee of the Women's Commission of CEIA (Club Español e Iberoamericano del Arbitraje - Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club), of which she was promoter and first President in 2016.

Member of the Advisory Board of CIAMEN (International Centre for Arbitration, Mediation and Negotiation of the Royal University Institute of European Studies, San Pablo-CEU University, Madrid - Spain).

Deputy Chair of CIAM-CIAR (International Arbitration Centre of Madrid - Ibero-American Arbitration Centre - www.ciam-ciar.com).

Independent director of the listed company Línea Directa Aseguradora.

Native Spanish speaker, full professional proficiency of English very high level of French.

Member of the Madrid Bar Association since 1991.
